MAG, through our partner Save Youth Future Society, has reached almost half a million people across Gaza with life-saving guidance.
Since September 2024, MAG has delivered nearly 29,000 risk education sessions, reaching over 140,000 children, with women and girls accounting for 59% of all participants.
Explosive remnants of war pose a daily threat to civilians, particularly children, who face heightened risks as they move through rubble, re-enter homes, and play in areas affected by conflict.
MAG’s risk education responds directly to these dangers, equipping communities with the knowledge needed to recognise hazards and reduce the risk of injury or death.
In the early stages of the response, MAG prioritised rapid, emergency risk education to address immediate threats. Of the 28,900 sessions delivered, around 19,000 were conducted as urgent, emergency-focused sessions, designed to quickly reach people facing imminent danger.
Following the ceasefire period, MAG’s approach has increasingly shifted. While emergency sessions continue where required, teams are now delivering longer, integrated sessions that combine explosive safety messaging with mental health and psychosocial support, reflecting the changing needs of communities as families return home or relocate.
For children, MAG places particular emphasis on ensuring sessions are interactive, age- and gender-appropriate, inclusive, and trauma-informed, supporting learning in ways that are safe, effective, and sensitive to children’s experiences.
Through stories, Risk Education Officer Ali Muqat teaches children how to avoid unexploded bombs, helping keep them safe from the deadly legacy of war. "We are here to ensure that every step a child takes is a step toward safety," he says.
MAG and our partners deliver sessions across displacement sites and accessible communities. Alongside face-to-face sessions, we have also distributed more than 16,000 brochures and leaflets, reinforcing key guidance and helping families share the information at home.
We are committed to helping communities stay safe and will continue to do everything possible to help families as they navigate daily life amid the impacts of conflict.
