A ceasefire does not mean safety
Since the fragile October ceasefire, families and children across Gaza are returning to their homes. Unfortunately, their lives are still in danger. Bombs, missiles, rockets — many unexploded, lie buried in rubble, under roads, inside homes.
In Gaza right now, one step can change everything.
That’s why MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is working with our local partner Save Youth Future Society on the ground delivering life-saving education in Gaza — where it’s needed most.
For over 36 years, MAG’s been in the fight to save lives. Since 1989, we’ve taught 20 million people across 70 countries how to recognize and avoid explosive hazards and destroyed thousands of landmines. Because rebuilding communities shouldn’t be life-threatening.
With 90% of Gaza’s population displaced and unexploded bombs everywhere, families returning home this winter could see one of the worst crises we’ve ever seen.
In Gaza, MAG is warning families returning home about the dangers of hidden bombs in the rubble.
We’re doing everything we can to keep people safe. Meeting families on the move to host education sessions, handing out hundreds of thousands of leaflets, and launching mass social media campaigns to teach people how to avoid unexploded bombs.
But we need your help to scale up our efforts now. The first weeks and months after a ceasefire are the most dangerous, as families return to homes and streets which are still littered with unexploded bombs. There is so much life-saving work to be done.
Will you help us grow our efforts at this critical time with a gift? Every gift made now will save lives in Gaza and around the world.
The number of unexploded bombs in Gaza is likely to be among the worst we have seen anywhere in the world. We can't safely remove them yet, but we can protect lives through education.
Children face the biggest danger. Their natural curiosity and play puts them at the highest risk of injury and death.
Your donation can help MAG deliver vital life-saving education where it’s needed most. With your help, we can deliver emergency education sessions to more children, and share life-saving information to more families returning home.
